National bike highway gets more routes added.

temp-post-image

The Association of American State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), in recognition of both the growth of cycling as a fitness practice and as a growing alternative to car travel, has granted approval to additional routes for the national bicycle highway. The first since 1982. The Adventure Cycling Association had a hand in getting it passed.

Evidently, a national bike highway already exists. News to me. But good news. The added routes are USBR 1 in Maine and New Hampshire, USBR 20 in Michigan, and USBRs 8, 95, 97, and 87 in Alaska.
