Louisville may be home to world’s first underground singletrack

Predicting that Louisville will be the foremost mountain biking destination in the United States may be a bit presumptuous, even if Moab is falling somewhat out of favor with the sport’s hardest core; but a few miles of underground singletrack would seriously rock.

Mega Caverns is a limestone-based network of established underground pathways and caverns all made by man that today houses a bunch of family fun-park type stuff, like a zip line, ropes course, popcorn and t-shirt stands. Now that the miners have little use for it, a group of mountain biking advocates want to build a course within the constantly 58-degree attraction. The owner is on-board and plans are underway.

Granted, it may be some time before this project sees the light of day, but it’s a very cool idea.
